    The Department of Fire and Emergency Services provides emergency medical services and fire protection to the citizens of Gwinnett County. The Department's mission is to save lives and protect property and we have a prestigious history of doing this with many significant accomplishments. As a valued member of our team, you will assist in the performance of emergency medical treatment, life rescue and fire suppression, and safety education to the public.

    The following positions are available with new education incentives:


    • Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
    • $42,047 - $47,297 Starting Salary
    • $43,308 - $48,715 3% pay incentive for an Associate's degree
    • $44,569 - $50,134 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree


    $2,000 Hiring Incentive within first year of employment - This is for new Gwinnett County employees only (not rehires).

    Firefighter/Paramedic Trainee

    • Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
    • $36,331 Starting Salary
    • $37,420 (includes 3% pay incentive for an Associate's degree)
    • $38,510 (includes 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree)

    Description:  Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility within the guidelines of supervisory instructions, NFPA federal and state laws, local ordinances, building codes, and County and department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports to the Paramedic, Battalion Chief, or other designated person and works with co-workers, fire and emergency victims, law enforcement personnel, and the public to protect the lives and property of citizens.

    The City of Milton is looking to replace its exemplary Fire Chief, who has been with the Department since 2008.  Reporting directly to the City Manager, this new Chief will provide leadership and manage the City’s Fire and EMS roles.  Milton’s new Fire Chief will be expected to work collaboratively with elected officials, City Management, Department employees and local stakeholders.

    CCFES is excited to add another Level III – paramedic instructor to our academy staff. The primary responsibility of this person will be to administer and teach our inhouse accredited Paramedic Program.     • Associates degree with 5 years teaching experience or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years teaching experience

    • US citizen or resident status
    • Will be required to obtain Level III Paramedic instructor – if not already licensed

    The CTAE Teacher (Public Safety) will be responsible for teaching the theoretical and practical concepts, strategies and techniques associated with the field of Public Safety within the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) framework.
