    The Department of Fire and Emergency Services provides emergency medical services and fire protection to the citizens of Gwinnett County. The Department's mission is to save lives and protect property and we have a prestigious history of doing this with many significant accomplishments. As a valued member of our team, you will assist in the performance of emergency medical treatment, life rescue and fire suppression.

    The following positions are available with new education incentives:

    · Firemedic

    Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

    • $42,047 - $47,297 Starting Salary
    • $43,308 - $48,715 3% pay incentive for an Associate's degree
    • $44,569 - $50,134 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree


    $2,000 Hiring Incentive within first year of employment - This is for new Gwinnett County employees only (not rehires).
    • · Firefighter/Paramedic Trainee

    • $36,331 Starting Salary
    • $37,420 (includes 3% pay incentive for an Associate's degree)
    • $38,510 (includes 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree)

    After successful completion of Firefighter/Paramedic Trainee Recruit School and after obtaining all required Fire certifications as well as National Registry and State of Georgia Paramedic certifications, the salary will be adjusted as follows:

    • $43,729 Annual Salary
    • $45,040 (includes 3% pay incentive for an Associate's degree)
    • $46,352 (includes 6% pay incentive for a Bachelor's degree)

    DeKalb Fire Rescue EMS Division is currently accepting applications for Paramedics. This is a paramedic only position that will not be participating in firefighting activities. The primary responsibility will be to answer emergency medical calls for the DeKalb Fire Rescue Department. The Paramedic role in DeKalb is a competitive, challenging position that has a competitive salary.  Paramedics that are considered for this role must have at least 1 year’s emergency experience and hold current State of Georgia Paramedic license.

    Starting salary: 47,834

    Criticare Medical Institute –Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Academy is seeking a Program Director to facilitate all of its EMS Education program. This is a full-time position and the prospect will be a high-level educator responsible to design, develop, organize and supervise the new educational programs and curriculum for EMS providers. The EMS Program Director has primary responsibility and authority to administer all the levels of the EMS program not limited to EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic and Paramedic specializations such as FCP, CCP, CCP.

    The Community Response Behavioral Health Clinician will work in collaboration with Cobb County Fire and EMS and Cobb County Police Department on the Community Response Team with a focus on reduction of non- emergency 911 calls.  The clinician will respond in the community as member of the team with primary function of assessment of potential mental health and/or substance use disorders.  The clinician will assist with linkage to appropriate services for ongoing treatment.  Additionally, where deemed necessary the clinician will execute the 1013/2013 for transport to an emergency receiving facility for assessment for inpatient admission.  

    • Experience – Minimum 5 plus years of human services, social work and/or clinical experience
