Call for Candidates 2019
Division Vice Presidents and At-Large Board Members
The Georgia Association of EMS is seeking nominations for its Board of Directors. Below is the portion of the bylaws related to the Board of Directors and eligibility requirements to hold office.
“Three months prior to the annual meeting the Chairman will issue a call for Officer Candidates. Any member who would be willing to serve as an Officer of a Division or a member of the Board “at large” shall notify the Chairman, in writing, within thirty (30) days after this call for candidates. The Officer Candidate may, at his/her discretion, provide a one page document of his/her qualifications and goals for the Association. This document will be included in the ballot that will be mailed out to the membership for election of Board members; the Association shall provide ballots and there shall be no mark or marking on the ballot that could indicate the person who cast such ballot. These ballots shall allow each member to vote for the President and Vice-President of the Division they have qualified affiliation with and to vote for the number of open “at large” Board of Directors positions. “
During this election year the Association will be electing the following positions:
VIce President for each Division – Term of Service 2020-2022
Three (3) “at large” Board Members, Positions #1, #3 and #5 - Term of Service 2020-2022
- Providers Division Vice President
- Educators Division Vice President
- Directors Division Vice President
- Medical Directors Vice President
Anyone wishing to run for one of these positions should submit their name, current address, current contact numbers, and a brief work related history to include why you want to be a board member (200 words or less) electronically here: 2019 GEMSA Call For Candidates
Nominations must be received no later than noon on July 31, 2019.
Only those members who submit electronically to GEMSA agreeing to serve on the Board of Directors will be included as candidates for office. Persons submitting nominations should include a biographical summary (200 words or less). Failure to include a bio, with your nomination, will result in the ballot being delivered to the voting members without a biographical summary. The three persons with the highest total of votes will be elected for the “at large” board positions. In the event of a tie, the sitting board will vote to break the tie.
Please consider becoming part of the GEMSA board. Board members are required to attend scheduled board meetings and EMS activities around the State. The position as a board member is both rewarding and challenging. The GEMSA board is responsible for managing the business and affairs of the Association. The board may adopt such rules and regulations for the conduct of their meetings and the management of the Association, as they deem proper, consistent with the Association by-laws and the laws of the state. At-large board positions are open to all members of the Association. The complete bylaws for the Association are posted in the member portal on the website.
