EMT Basic Training can be as short as a few months. Programs are offered at training programs across the state. 
Flexible learning options - virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning.  Average starting salary
of an EMT is $38,500.

How to Get Started

If you think an EMS career might be right for you, the first step is finding a class near you.  EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic classes are available across the state.

Next steps to find a class near you:

  1. Search for training programs in your area. Learn more here.
    OR
  2. Submit a personalized education consultation request. These requests will go to the Regional Training Coordinator in the area you are interested in.  They will follow-up with educational opportunities.

Your training program will help you navigate the exam and licensure process.

Join the association today at NO COST to connect with others in the profession, attend events, continue your training, and use the association as a resource. Student members are currently enrolled in an EMS certification level program (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic) upon the initiation of their membership into GEMSA.  A student membership is limited to 1 year before you need to upgrade to an active member.  See a list of membership benefits here or join online here.
